CITIZENS UNITED ENDORSEMENT. The conservative political group Citizens United is again endorsing Republican 1st District U.S. House candidate Matt Mowers.
The organization’s president and chairman, David Bossie, will make the announcement later Tuesday.
Bossie is making a personal endorsement of Mowers as well.
It is the second endorsement of Mowers by the Citizens United Victory PAC and by Bossie. They also endorsed Mowers in March 2020, when Mowers made his first run for the seat.
Mowers is among six Republicans who have filed declarations of candidacy for 2022 for the seat occupied by Democratic U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, who has filed for a third term.
“At this unprecedented time in our nation’s history, Matt understands the stakes. He understands that socialism in America and the radical Biden-Pelosi agenda must be thoroughly defeated,” Bossie said.
“Matt is a principled conservative who will always fight for President Trump’s ‘America First’ agenda in Congress, which begins with fixing the crises that Joe Biden’s policies have created, whether it’s the border crisis, crime crisis, inflation crisis or Afghanistan crisis.
“A vote for Mowers is a vote to stop the radical socialist agenda in Congress,” said Bossie.
Citizens United Victory is the political action committee associated with Citizens United, the conservative advocacy group that was the winning plaintiff in the landmark 2010 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that struck down federal laws prohibiting corporate and union spending in federal elections.
Bossie is one of former President Donald Trump’s closest supporters and is a friend and ally of – and co-author with –Trump senior adviser Corey Lewandowski, who has signed on as an advisor to Mowers in the current campaign.
Bossie said Mowers is the nineteenth U.S. House candidate to be endorsed by Bossie and CUPVF in the current midterm election cycle.
The PAC has also endorsed four Republican U.S. Senate candidates, including U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama and incumbents Tim Scott of South Carolina, Mike Lee of Utah, and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin.
Mowers is making his second run for the 1st District U.S. House seat after winning the GOP primary last year but falling short of Pappas in the general election.
The Citizens United Political Victory Fund spent more than $1 million on Republicans in 2020 and $1.3 million in 2018, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
“For decades, David Bossie and Citizens United have been pillars of the conservative movement, advancing the causes of freedom and liberty across the country,” Mowers said. “I am honored to have their support in our fight to restore New Hampshire’s voice in Congress.
“We’re building a strong grassroots campaign that is ready to win next November and take back the House from Nancy Pelosi.”
Citizens United’s 501c-4 nonprofit arm was founded in 1988 and has long been one of the nation’s most influential conservative advocacy groups.
