LEWANDOWSKI ENDORSEMENT. Senior Trump campaign adviser and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is endorsing fellow Trump backer Matt Mowers for the 1st District U.S. House seat.
Mowers is a former official in the upper echelon of the Trump administration’s State Department and has been an ally of Lewandowski dating back to the 2016 general election campaign.
Initially, Mowers was the state campaign director for former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who dropped out of the 2016 presidential race after a less-than-stellar showing in the New Hampshire primary and then led Trump’s transition team.
Mowers, meanwhile, after Christie dropped out, joined the Trump campaign in a key field coordinator role.
Lewandowski, of Windham, thought long and hard last year about running for the U.S. Senate, but then decided against it. He has not yet endorsed in the Senate GOP primary.
But he has now weighed in on the U.S. House primary between Mowers and former NHGOP vice chair Matt Mayberry.
In a statement shared first with New Hampshire Primary Source, Lewandowski said: “Matt “Matt is the only Republican that can beat Chris Pappas and the ‘Liberal Pelosi machine.’”
“Mowers played a key role in the 2016 campaign, working tirelessly to elect President Donald J. Trump and served as a tremendous asset to our country in the president’s administration.
“He will always put New Hampshire first and stand with President Trump to deliver real results to Granite Staters. I am proud to support his campaign in order to continue to drain the swamp in DC and to restore the House of Representatives to the Republican Party.”
Mowers said he was humbled by the endorsement, saying Lewandowski “has always fought for Donald Trump and New Hampshire.”
